Business Broadband & Leased Lines
The Right Connection for Each of Your Sites
Your internet connection carries your email, phones, cloud apps and backups. We help you choose between business broadband and a dedicated leased line, arrange it with the provider and support it as part of your IT.
What is Business Broadband & Leased Lines?
As more of your work moves to Microsoft 365, cloud apps and internet-based phones, a slow or unreliable connection affects everyone. We source business internet connections for each of your sites and look after them alongside the rest of your IT, dealing with the provider so you don't have to.
Business broadband is a shared service: your connection shares capacity in the provider's network with other customers, and download speeds are often higher than upload speeds. It is cost-effective and suits many smaller offices.
A leased line is a dedicated connection between your premises and the provider's network. It isn't shared with other customers, upload and download speeds are usually the same, and providers typically offer a higher level of service on it. It costs more and generally takes longer to install.
Key benefits
- Plain-English advice on broadband versus leased lines
- Connections sourced to suit each of your sites
- Routers configured securely, with default settings changed
- One point of contact: we deal with the provider for you
- Optional backup connections for sites that need to stay online
How does it work?
We look at how each site uses the internet today and what's planned, check what's available at the address, then recommend a connection and arrange it with the provider.
Review your needs
We look at how many people use each site, which cloud services and phones depend on the connection, and whether you need a backup.
Check availability
We check what's available at each address. Leased lines need a survey by the provider, which confirms whether installation is possible and what work is involved.
Order and install
We place the order, coordinate installation between the provider and your premises, and configure the router or firewall securely.
Support
If the connection has a fault, report it to us. We raise it with the provider, follow it up and keep you informed until it's resolved.

- Records of your connections, contract terms and renewal dates
Which connection suits you?
Business broadband
Suits smaller offices where most work is email, Microsoft 365 and web apps, and where a short outage would be inconvenient rather than critical.
Leased line
Suits busier offices, sites that upload large files or run many calls and video meetings at once, and businesses where the connection is critical.
Backup connection
A second line or a mobile data connection, depending on what's available, keeps key services running if the main line fails.
Several sites
Each site can have the connection that suits it, with one point of contact for every line rather than a different provider to chase at each office.
Problems solved
Slow internet when everyone is online
Video calls, cloud backups and uploads compete for the same capacity. A connection sized for the site eases the pressure.
Chasing providers when the line goes down
Fault calls with providers take time and patience. We report and follow up faults for you.
No plan B when the connection fails
When the line is down, cloud apps and phones stop. A backup connection keeps key services available where one is in place.
Default router settings left in place
Routers installed with default passwords and settings are an easy target. We configure them securely from the start.
Moving office before the internet is ready
Lines need ordering well ahead of a move. We check availability and coordinate installation as part of your plans.
What's included
Included as standard
- Advice on the right connection type for each site
- Availability checks and quotations from the provider
- Ordering and coordinating installation
- Secure configuration of the router or firewall connected to the line
- Fault reporting and liaison with the provider
- One point of contact for your business connections
Optional or scoped
Available on request and confirmed in your proposal; not part of the standard service.
- Backup connections and automatic failover
- Static IP addresses
- A managed firewall for the connection, through Managed Firewalls
- Office Wi-Fi management, through Business Wi-Fi Management
What's not included
- Line rental and provider charges, unless listed in your quote
- Construction work or extra installation charges identified by the provider's survey
- Repairs to the provider's own network, which only the provider can carry out
- Internal cabling and Wi-Fi, unless covered by a separate service or project
Availability, speeds and prices depend on your address and the provider. Leased lines need a provider survey, and installation lead times vary, so we confirm timings once the order is placed rather than promising dates up front.
Fault repair times are set by the provider and depend on the type of connection you choose. We report and follow up faults, but we can't repair the provider's network ourselves.

- Offices that rely on Microsoft 365, cloud apps and internet phones
- Businesses outgrowing standard broadband
- Sites where losing the internet would stop work
- Businesses moving premises or opening a new site
- Organisations with several sites and several providers to manage

Add to Your QuoteFrequently asked questions
How long does a leased line take to install?
It varies by location and provider, and depends on what the provider's survey finds, such as whether new cabling or digging is needed. We share the provider's expected timescale once the order is placed and keep you updated.
Do we need a leased line?
Not always. Many smaller offices are well served by business broadband. A leased line makes more sense when lots of people share the connection, you upload large amounts of data, or downtime would be costly. We'll recommend what fits each site.
Can you help with a connection we already have?
Often, yes. With your authorisation, we can deal with your existing provider on your behalf and configure the equipment connected to the line. When the contract comes up for renewal, we can review whether it still suits you.
Will a backup connection switch over automatically?
It can, if your router or firewall supports automatic failover and it's set up to do so. Some services, such as calls in progress or VPN connections, may drop briefly during the switch.
Is our internet connection protected?
Routers are configured securely with default settings changed. For stronger protection, the connection can sit behind a managed firewall that filters traffic and has its logs monitored as part of that service.
